ASCI*: the potential for fewer side effects
When ASCI* targets antigens that are only found on cancer cells, the treatment is expected to destroy cancer cells only – leaving normal healthy cells untouched.
For this reason it is hoped that patients treated with ASCI* may have relatively few side effects. This will be confirmed in clinical trials.
Two large worldwide clinical studies are under way to test how well ASCI* treatment works and the level of side effects it may cause. The study in lung cancer is called the MAGRIT study, and the study in melanoma is called the DERMA study.
