Cancer immunotherapy is a potential new type of cancer treatment that teaches your own immune system to fight and destroy cancer cells. One type of cancer immunotherapy is called ASCI*. ASCI* is being developed by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as a potential new treatment for certain types of lung cancer. It is currently being tested in two large clinical trial involving thousands of lung cancer patients. The trial in lung cancer is called the MAGRIT study, and the trial in melanoma is called the DERMA study. Clinical trials are carefully controlled studies carried out to see whether new treatments are effective and safe.
